"BJ's warehouse sells a 30,000 BTU/hr propane blast heater for $90 US, meant for (very small) construction sites. It will run about 14 hours on a 20# BBQ tank. It needs about an amp of 110vac, which you can supply with a small inverter -- 140watt units available for about $40 US at the discount houses like BJ's. You'd have to secure it to the floor somehow, but it would work. It shoves great masses of hot air out the front and makes a roaring noise (it's really just a tube with a fan in back and a fire in the middle, with another tube enclosing it that stays cool). >snip< ------- ~K~, I'm thinking if you mounted it so it aimed towards the rear and you had the back door open you might increase your mileage; what with the high price of gas. Or, if you don't want to bolt a ram jet to your floor you could go the minimalist route and get one of those heaters that plugs into your "cigarette lighter" (old days) / "lap top power port" (new daze) that has the heating element on the other end that you stick in your cup of coffee. At least you could keep your hands warm. Maybe wait for summer? Ron Bloomquist |
