Well, remember, it was an engineer that screwed up the calculations on the Mars lander, so being a self-described "mechanical engineer" is meaningless -- unless of course your specialty happens to involve automotive wheel technolgy. Even "rocket scientists" get it wrong (all the time, BTW). So frankly, without better credentials, your opinion is no better than mine, engineering degree and all.
As an aside, you are welcome to do whatever you want to do with your life, just don't involve mine!!
