We carry a small 30"(?) stepladder. We bought it mainly to get better access to bikes mounted on racks over the roof of the van. We have found that when set up in the interior of the Westy, it makes accessing the outside luggage rack through the screen opening in the canvas a breeze.

I also recall a few years back seeing a roll up ladder advertised that attached to a roof rack (or rain gutter?) and allowed one to walk up the side of the vehicle carrying a bike or whatever. Haven't been able to remember the company's name or find any product details in my bike mags.....................
