IMHO removing window tinting is a PITA at best. You have to use ammonia, which is foul enough stuff to begin with. Then when you spray it on, it runs down onto your cabinets, floors, etc.

The technique is to spray the window with ammonia, then cover it with plastic sheeting, sealed with tape. Let it soak for a couple hours, then scrap off with a razor. You will still have to spend a fair bit of time getting all the gunk off the windows.

The good news is that in a Vanagon, at least all the windows are relatively flat and easy to get to. (I once did the back window of a Scirocco, and I vowed that I would never do it again)

I am considering buying a van that has tinted windows, and would like to know how to remove the tinting. Is this a difficult process, or pretty much a no-brainer?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
