My '81 Westy came with factory air, which I have since removed because it was broken. It used the air ducts in the dash and the ones above the sliding door. It did NOT affect the cabinets in any way. It did mean I had no glove box, since that area was used for the air conditioning. After I removed it, I got a glovebox and installed it.
