Subject: Refrigerator problems
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

I'm not getting power to my fridge (1984 Westfalia, Domestic) from one of the two 12v lines. I've traced it back to the fuse box behind the drivers seat, no power there (though the line's fuse was blown and the fuse box was melted on that side). Hmmm.

I traced back to the thing that looks like a relay (is it?) beneath the drivers seat, no power there. After that, I lose where the line goes. Somewhere in the dash, but I can't find where, and the Bentley is of zero help. No, it makes no difference whether the ignition is turned on or not. Still no power. Would it matter if the engine was running (it can't right now)?

The line powers the 12v heater in the fridge. Can some one tell me where it originates? Fuse panel? Which fuse? Somewhere else? Can I just hot wire another power line into that line and be done? If so, where is a good place to get enough power for the heater? What is that relay in the aux. battery compartment for anyway?

Gee, I thought this would just be one question.

Finally, the manual says "you should begin to notice cooling after two hours of operation." Is there another way of testing whether the fridge is running or working at all (besides being sure power is present) on 12v or 120v?

Many thanks!

Steve
