This may be an odd question but what amount of oil does a Vanagon use between oil changes (3000 mi)? Before rebuilding, mine had 170,000 mi and used 1 qt. per 500 mi. Now after rebuilding, its using 1 qt. every 2000 mi This still seems high to me as most Japanese cars use zero oil with a new motor. Is this Vanagon normal or do I have a problem?
