I use and like Castrol Syntec 20W50 in my '88/2.1L, so far it has survived. So far, no oil leaks (say, do they make synthetic water?) When I've started using it in any of my cars, I just changed to it, and used a new filter, natch. The various types of engine oils have to be compatable w/each other, by law, and most likely are. Just change it sooner than you might have otherwise as a "flush", and always use a new filter.
