Hello to all: I am the sometimes happy owner of an 89 westy with a little over 100k mi.. I always say I spend more time under it than inside it. I am starting to hear some strange sounds which I assume is from the auto trans. Sort of a periodic vibration in tune with the engine. It only ocurrs when moving ahead-even creeping ahead. It does not show up in neutral or when moving in reverse. I dont see any slippage in normal driving. My guess so far is that the Final drive and torque converter should be ok. Before I pull the tranny are there any helpful suggestions out there? I did manage to rebuild one of these on my 69 fastback years ago and wonder whether used transmissions, rebuild kits and other parts are available? Any help gratefully appreciated.
