>Plymouth Volaries and yes, VW Dashers. Only the Japanese figured out how to >make the automobile a truly reliable vehicle for the mass public. Uh can we say, 1938 or so, the Beetle? Same design 50 years, hundreds of thousands of miles each, rust no worse than and pre '90 Japanese car. Certainly a reliable car buy the mid 60's by any standards if given even moderate care. Now creature comforts of course weren't ever so hot. The Japanese merely learned as they always do to take good ideas that others have forgotten and perfect them to a degree before unknown (can you say the Miata, the perfect small Brit sports car (drive one awhile and just admit it to yourself while the MGB, Spitfire, dare I say it Elan, sits in the garage)) (Another interesting example, Sony Trinitron technology, US designed, I think the guy worked for Quasar or some such, who said, hell we'll never need to use that, too hard to make) It still feel like Friday to me, my weekend stunk.
