Hi all, I'm contemplating the joys of vanagon-hood again, but first I need to stuff my used 87 engine into my 86 GL syncro. Only thing, I've never done this before. I've just bought my RTV (blue) sealant for the trans-block connection and a tube of anti-sieze. I think I've marked or can remember the basics. What I'm hoping to learn the easy way - that's you list! - is all the stuff that's not in the Bentley. I.e. Washers - do I replace all the lock washers? Where do I purchase such? Anything else?? I'm taking this opportunity to check all my hoses, etc. and clean everything I can find. The engine was actually quite clean and dry before it threw that nasty rod. I'm planning on getting it together and driving it 6-12 months before I shell out the big bucks for a rebuild/conversion. No broken studs to deal with or any problems yet. Not planning on re-connecting the AC. Just hoping for a little borrowed experience. Tusen Tuk JN |
