I'm not sure you have a problem but it's worth looking into. Before I changed to a 1.9n/a diesel in my 82 Westy I got some info from Scott Foss Turbodiesels formerly of Sausalito, CA. Scott offered a single belt conversion that included a new pump, pulley, solid crank pulley, different alternator pulley, and new single belt. He did a lot of engine conversions and swore by the single belt claiming he believed in it so much that he would not sell a conversion without it. Of course he didn't specify the VW OEM parts he used, I thought they might be from a 1.6TD Jetta. Anyway, Scott relocated to Washington State and is not on the list to comment. Anytime Martin Jagersand comments on diesels I listen. The recent post regarding waterpump speeds makes sense also. As far as oil, I've found RPM Delo in 15-40W CD to be widely available out west anyway.
