Subject: Syncro Safari 2000 Registration is now OPEN!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"
Hi Syncronauts!!
This message is for Syncronauts who want to attend Syncro Safari, Mammoth
2000.
It's come time to register for Syncro Safari, Mammoth 2000.
In the past, I thought I knew who was attending, but a LOT of people who SAID
they were coming, didn't show up after all. I had made antenna flags and
window stickers among other preparations, for the no-shows. We have 12 place
this year and nearly half are already reserved by Syncro Safari "alumni".
This year I hope to get a better handle on the attendance, by having an early
and clear-cut "registration" plan. Instead of counting people who say
they're attending, I'll create a registration list of people who have made a
commitment to attend. This "commitment" is basically, paying the camping fee.
Months ago I paid for our campsite out of my own pocket and that cost is the
primary monetary cost of having the Syncro Safari.
The camping fee for each Syncro will be $35 this year, paid in advance. This
fee is a flat rate for up to 8 nights of camping. Since I don't know now how
many attendees we will have I have estimated this cost conservatively for
myself so that I don't lose money on this deal. If there are enough
attendees, there may be some money left over so that we afford some other
niceties - who knows.
To register to attend Syncro Safari, Mammoth 2000 please do the following:
1. Email me at Syncrohead@aol.com and tell me the following: (see my info
below)
A. Name(s) & age(s) of attendees
B. Your address
C. Your phone number(s) (as many as you care to offer)
D. Year, model, and color of your Syncro
E. Any alternate email addresses I may use to contact you (I'll assume
the
email address you're sending from is your primary email address)
F. Your preliminary plan for the dates you'll arrive & depart
2. I'll confirm that there is a place for you at Syncro Safari 2000 by
sending a reply email. This may take several days. since I've had very
little time for email lately.
3. Send a check for $35. for the nonrefundable camping fee to:
Jim Davis
16248 Salazar Drive
Hacienda Heights, CA 91745
4. If you need to reserve vacation time with your employer, remember to do
this now.
Please do this soon. Space is limited.
Here is a repeat of the previously sent description of the SyncroSafari,
Mammoth 2000.
===========================================================
Syncro Safari 2000 will be the biggest and best event ever and I have
selected a place in California's eastern Sierras for Syncro Safari 2000.
I have reserved a beautiful group campsite near Mammoth Lakes in the eastern
Sierra. The site is just gorgeous and so are the surrounding moutnains. The
site can accomodate up to 12 vehicles and 50 people maximum and is seperate
from any other campground. It's just for our group! I had hoped to schedule
Syncro Safari 2000 for late July, but ended up scheduling it for the last
week of August.
A few months ago I visited the Mammoth Lakes area and checked out several
group sites. None matched this one - on many counts. I also talked with
people from the local visitors bureau, rangers, and the president of the
local 4x4 club. I have tentatively arranged for local club members to act as
trail guides for us.
I picked up a lot of literature about the local region and will soon prepare
information packets to be mailed out to interested Syncronauts. The area has
many sights to see and things to do including hiking, mountain biking,
canoeing, and you can to Yosemite's north-east entrance in about 1.5 hours.
The Syncro Safari web site has been updated with new information about Syncro
Safari 2000. The main Syncro Safari site is at: http://members.aol.
com/syncrohead/SyncroSafari.html
with a link to the Mammoth 2000 information.
The tentative schedule I've planned for Syncro Safari Mammoth 2000 is as
follows:
Saturday, August 26, Arrival day
Sunday, August 27, Arrival day, evening 4 wheeling clinic, trail preview
Monday, August 28, 4 wheeling
Tuesday, August 29, open - see local attractions, evening trail preview
Wednesday, August 30, 4 wheeling
Thursday, August 31, open - see local attractions, evening trail preview
Friday, September 1, 4 wheeling, evening awards night
Saturday, September 2, depart or see local attractions
Sunday, September 3, depart
I think that this year there may be more people who want to attend than we'll
have space for. You can send in for information about the Mammoth Lakes area.
Read on....
While in Mammoth Lakes I spent a full day collecting literature fro the
ranger Station, Visitors Center and local Visitors bureau. I have at least
24 of the following items and I'll send a package containing one each to
people that request a package.
The package contains:
---------------------------------

50 Great Things to do in the Eastern Sierra Guide
Mammoth Fishing & Vacation Guide Newspaper

There is SO MUCH to do in the eastern Sierra it's incredible!!

horseback riding, rock climbing, hot air ballooning, in-line skating, golf,
tennis, orienteering/ropes course, sail boarding, nightlife, jet skiing, rock
collecting, bicycle touring, swimming, movies, arts & crafts and music
festivals (depends on schedule), photography, bird / animal watching (maybe
bears!)
Site seeing alone provides beautiful views everywhere you look.
Nearby attractions include:
Yosemite National Park(entrance 45 miles, valley 90 miles),
hot springs, fish hatchery, historical museums,
Mono Lake, Mono Lake tufa, and Mono Lake Canoe Tours
Devils Postpile National Monument,

To get your package of information mailed to you, please do the following:
1. Send me an email at Syncrohead@aol.com and let me know you want the info.
2. Send me $4.00 (US) in the mail for Syncronauts in the USA. Yes, a real
paper envelope & all - what a hassle! If you write a check, make it payable
to Jim Davis.
For people outside the USA, email me and I'll figure out how to get an
inofmation package to you.
The literature only cost me a trip to Mammoth, but the post office wants over
$3 to mail it, so I'm just covering my cost and rounding up a tad. Please
only request a package if you are really considering attending.
I plan to only open this trip to only 12 vehicles and I think with the
proximity to the San Francisco and Los Angeles areas, that this trip will be
the most popular ever.
Send your info package request with $4.00 to:
