That would have been me, and yes, you got it right.  I had the same
experience at the dealers myself, except that I believe they don't know.  I
believe there's quite a lot they don't know.  Price sounds about right, too.

Didn't someone post something about some company (I recall in Missouri, but
could be off by about half a country) that re-arcs or restretches springs?
Might be useful info again.
