Subject: Coolant system failure
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hey there. I have the dreaded coolant system empting itself out quandry. Basically the plastic ditributor T blew out and emptied the system. Basically got the red buzzer light and etc. It was hard starting up when it was hot, but started fine when finally cooled down. I'm going to replace this part and refill the system, but I am wondering if there is any long-term damage I should look out for, or tests that I should run. Its my understanding that if the collant system runs out, that the temperature guage is basically not telling you much since there is no collant running through it. The vehicle is and 89 2.1L with 125,000 miles on it and new heads and gaskets at 90,000. Ken wilfy has suggest that the lower half of these particular motors last only 150,000 miles and maybe more if they've never overheated. Anyway, any insight the list members have or suggestions of what to look out for would be much obliged.

Thanks,

Andrew Dunn 89 GL
