Subject:      crank crank THUD continues

Thank you all for your help and suggestions. I realize my description of THUD was ambiguous but all i can say is it is very difficult to think what i thought happened, let alone type out the words, and then the possibility of being correct...can anyone say liquid lock?? talk about the smell of raw fuel...how about having it dumped into the cylinder through a stuck open injector.

checked the compression in the engine and that seems to be fine...my gas consumption has gone downhill for the last hundred miles and it was running on the lousy side (gee no wonder). so obviously i've been driving it with the injector at least somewhat stuck in the open position for those miles.

my questions now are:

if the compression checks out okay, do you think my engine is alright?

what can i do with this injector. can it be cleaned and reused (and trusted?) or should i buy a new or rebuilt one
