Can you rig a sling to  hold a smart 10 year old kid under the spare tire
holder.  Kidding aside, I would suggest a cheap tape recorder placed under
the van in different places while driving the same stretch of road.  An
audio announcement could be inserted before each change.  To get really
fancy, load the resulting tape into a .wav file and do a computer look see
with audio software.  I bet you could get really close to the problem.

With all the chatter about squeeking, I thought I ought to inquire about
clunking.  Our 1990 Westy generates a clunking sound when we drive over
rough roads.  The sound is very audible from the drivers seat, slightly
audible from the passenger seat and can not be heard at all from the back
bench seat.  The sound is most severe when only a driver is in the car,
having somebody sitting in the passenger seat seems to lessen the severity
of the sound.  For this reason I think it is orginating from the front
passenger side suspension.

We have had our mechanic, Rocky Jennings Enterprises of Walla Walla, WA,
look at this problem.  He has checked all the nuts and bolts, the shock
bushings and bolts and has not discovered the source of the problem.  Now
I'm turning to the vast experience that is available through this list.
Can you help me?
