We own a 95 Eurovan camper that we got at 55,000 miles as a repo from the credit union. When we took it to a good vw mechanic in the area for timing belt replacement he told us that the 93 model years had problems with the electronic components in the transmission. He said it was the 1st year that they went to electronic shifting and had a few problems with this new shifting. I never looked into this further to verify and clearify.
