Mine is the '91 edition, some of my page numbers don't gibe with yours.

This agrees with my 19.10 (83-85 cooling schematic), 19.12 (all watercooled radiator ass'y). It also makes sense given that the fan thermoswitch is at the bottom of the radiator, hence reading exit temps.

My 19.14 is a drawing of water pump-related stuff in the 2.1 engine...but my 19.12 clearly shows the bent-end hose crossing over the straight hose and mating with the left-side pipe. This agrees with my van as well. At the after end my 19.8 and 19.9 (complete engine-compartment plumbing, 83-85) clearly indicates the hose connected to the pipe which enters on the left (dunno if the pipes cross underneath but I doubt it) is connected to the upper transverse hose which then enters the lower thermostat housing and is protected by a small shield from nearby exhaust pipe. This agrees with the flow diagram on 19.10.

The discrepancy is that in the diagram on 19.10 they do not show the hoses in front crossing over each other; however 19.12 clearly shows that they do. 19.10 indicates that they cross over at the engine compartment, which is not so.

Make sense?
