Ken,

Did you change your 14" wheels to 15" during the colder climate? My van (89 Syncro Westy - 14") was squeaking like crazy towards the end of last summer and by November (when it started getting cold) the squeaking stopped. We will see by this spring (which occurred today in Rochester 70+F) if the squeaks re-appear. I do recall someone on the list making note that after 100k miles the upper control arm bushing sort of give up by squeaking and need to be changed on Vanagons. I looked under my van and the lower control arm bushings appear to be shredding some rubber so they may be the culprits? ... I would like to think that it is the rubber compound on the bushings that is tired and the cold climate may tighten them up enough to stop the squeaks.

To be revisited.....
