Hey, folks! I am back! Some of you may remember me as the guy who had the unterseewagen 84 westy. Back in September my 84 Westy jumped out of park and rolled into a lake and was totalled. This involved much wailing and gnashing of teeth on my part. I did not know if or when I would get another vanagon so I reluctantly left the list then. Well, I could not stand not having a Vanagon any longer and I just got another one. Hopefully, it will be a member of the household a little longer than the last one. The new ride is a 1984 Navy Blue Wolfsburg passenger van. It has the 4-speed, which I like a lot better than the auto in my previous van. It is rust-free and just needs a little TLC to get back to top-notch. The projects that are in line are 1. clutch master cyl leaking. Is this a bear or easy to replace? 2. Front seats are all torn up, no biggie to fix. 3. AC not working, probably a nightmare so a low priority right now ( till it gets hot). 4. Finding some alloys. A buddy of mine has a great set of Audi 5000 turbo wheels that SEEM to fit, but the lug nuts do not mate properly to make them work. I dont care about the center caps. Any ideas on alloys or how to make those work? I have not seen any aftermarket wheels that will fit. Oh well, not a big priority I guess. Well, just thought I'd reintroduce myself. I am glad to be back, you guys were a big help with my old van and my novice questions before it died. Thanks!
