I was disappointed with the NAPA tool #47(?)--their VW transmission drain plug tool. It is nothing more than a 17mm allen wrench. The short end was too long to get at the check level hole, and the long end was way too long. I had to drop the shift linkage (only two bolts) to get enough room to get at the plug. There was no way to open the drain hole without removing the front exhaust y-pipe. Some tool! I ended pumping out about 2-1/2 to 3 quarts out the check hole using a electric pump and refilling the same way. I think I might have an inch cut off the "tool" so I can put a wrench on it for next time. The tool was about $5.50. If I cut it up into (6) 1" pieces and sold them for a $1 each.... Jay |
