This is one way to go but it does not solve my main issue. In fact it makes it worse. I want to be able to easily hook up to any 2.1 Vanagon or Syncro for testing purposes. At least with the Digitool harness on the ECU I can do this by moving ECUs. With it soldered to the vehicle wiring harness, no way. For someone who does not care about testing more than his own vehicle, your approach makes more sense.
