I too used the cheapest Fram filters I could get for about the last 150,000 miles on my engine. Now I get the oil light flicker after about 1500 on an oil change. This is with the Mahle filter, and is due to a worn engine and fuel dilution of the oil that thins it out. The fuel dilution comes from the poor cold running with misfiring until the engine warms up. I'll probably stick to the Mahle with my next engine, who knows, maybe my old one would still be good if I had done this originally! Personal opinions are the rule with oil filters. But here are two links (both part of the same site) that show a more thorough approach to opinion forming, although the Mann/Mahle filters aren't tested. http://minimopar.simplenet.com/oilfilterstudy.html http://minimopar.simplenet.com/oilfilters.html -- Stuart MacMillan Manager, Case Program 800-909-8244 ext. 8208 Getting your share of the Net yet? http://cobaltgroup.com http://UsedEquipNet.com |
