Subject: '84 Vanagon 56k miles FS $700 in NJ
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

I have just recieved a really nice Vanagon that is an '84 with 56k original miles, Wolfram Grey with blue velour interior. It is merely a 7 passenger with no extras except A/C and it is a manual transmission. This van has no seam rust and very little body damage (a ding in the rear corner, partially squashed rear bumper, and a few scrapes part way down the driver's side). The roof clear coat is leaving. The nice part about this van is the very low mileage. It is like new inside and the suspension is like new as well. It has some nice Yokohama tires all the way around.

I got the van as a parts van to take the motor out of and put into Lauren's troubled '85 (see posts a couple of weeks ago) since the motor in this van was recently rebuilt. I tried to talk Lauren into just repairing this van (needs clutch or tranny work) and driving it since it was so sweet, but she loves her '85 too much. I was going to part it out but it is too nice.

The van has a good title and I would sell it for $700 with Lauren's old engine complete (needs a rebuild). Get a rebuilt or used motor for this van and it is ready to go. If I have to part it out I will but I thought I would offer it to the list first as a whole. It is so nice the tow truck guy that towed it here already offered me $700 for it (and he is a Ford man!) as a van for his daughter, but I just wanted to see if there were any List members who would be interested first. I can send digital pictures.

History: Van came into a local dealership with blown headgaskets at around 56k miles. Somehow owner abandoned van and the dealership got the title. Motor sat under workbench at the shop for 10 years. Service manager (and list member Rich Gandy) had the engine rebuilt and put the van back on the road this fall. After struggling with an electrical gremlin, he lost the ability to engage the transmission (haven't discovered if this is a tranny problem or a clutch problem) and decided to give up on the van.

The van is located in Millville, NJ 08332 and you can email me or call me if you are interested.
