Ryan -

Talk to a couple of insurance companies to get actual figures.

In Idaho the DMV was a little unsure about registering my '87 Westy as an RV, but I assured them that it had a toilet (my porta-potti) so they said OK. It costs me about $10 more per year for the RV sticker, and all RVs renew in January, which might not be convenient.

But - it saves me about $150/year on my auto insurance. It's not a very expensive machine, as RVs go, and the insurance company assumes that RVs are not going to be on the road as much as other machines, so their accident rate is lower.

Check it out, see how it works for you, and let us know!

In the last week I have seen two Westies. (A brown one at Mike's Advanced Auto Center in Minneapolis and one red one parked in front of CompUSA in Minnetonka yesterday afternoon, any list members?) Anyway both of these had RV plates on them. What are the advantages/disadvantages to putting RV plates on. I understand the difference in listing it as a RV for insurance is so that your car insurance company will cover the items inside the vehicle, should anything happen. Is this correct?

Thanks, Ryan 85 Westy (Tardis) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
