Jason, VDO got a sender replacing the drain plug and a gauge (150C max). You could also use the sensor in the l.s. cyl head near cyl #3: Get a 2nd 1 from VW, install it on the r.s. near cyl #2, and connect 1 to the gauge, the other to the wire (feeding engine temp to the ECU). Leave the gauge connected to the side that gets hotter or get a (stainless steel !) adapter from a shop that replaces the M6 Philips head screw at cyl #1 and takes a 3rd sensor. Have fun, Michael, Germany 80 Westy w/3 gauges for oil temp, left, and right side cyl head temp 86 GL
