Well, I'm gonna jump in here and tell my experiences and I'm sure I'm gonna get some flack for it. I have used CANADAIN TIRE brand oil filters on my '87 Westy for the past five years. Oil has been 20W50 dino stuff up until last year when I switched to Castrol Syntec. Only times I ever saw my oil light flicker at idle was when I was using 5W30 grade oil in the winter months as was recommended to me when I first bought by Van. I quickly leaned to use the 20W50 grade ALL year long. Never a problem since !

Cheers
