After a recent post regarding the Amsoil / Baldwin filter I obtained a couple of Baldwin B2 filters to try on my bus in place of the Fram filters I have used in the past. What I was looking for was a filter with the anti-drainback feature that seems to be so desireable. The counter guy could'nt tell me if the B2 had the valve or not. As it turned out I was able to fill the filter with oil just like I always do so that would indicate NO valve. John Anderson raises a good point about dry start up. You could pull your distributer wire and crank the engine I guess. My motor will rattle the valves for about a second or so in the morning on a cold start up regardless of the brand of filter used to date. The only thing in the Baldwin's favor would be the extra size of the element as the filter is quite a bit larger than the Fram. I paid $4.95 for one so it is no bargain. By the way, how does the oil manage to drain from the filter in the first place when it is mounted with opening on an upward incline?
