Dear Leonard,

Generally, I do not recommend the TDi engine into the Syncro because of the problem of significanlty lower redline (4200 rpm vs 5500rpm). This can be obviated by installing custom 1.19 3rd and .70 4th gears at tremendous cost (I know, I've gone this route!). Also, you will need to buy the "rare" Syncro Diesel fuel tank, at around $500 or so. However, with the 2wd Vanagon, all you would need is a 5 speed with 4.57 ring and pinion and you'd be pretty much set.

As for Fast-Forward -- I have not heard from David as to what is included in his kit. Most likely, he is repurposing some HA Projeckt parts along with his own set of parts and packaging a reasonable-cost alternative to importing or doing-it-yourself. Especially daunting is the wiring -- if he can solve this he is a genius!!

Let me know if you obtain any details from David.

Cheers,

MJS

<smaller> I'm going to try to put Fast Forward's 1.8L TDi kit into my van. Right now I'm wondering if anyone has put this kit into their van, or if there are other kits out there. Plus I'm trying to track down a use engine. Would appreciate anyone's after thoughts and opinions. (I'm actually a little nervous about the whole thing). Thanks. Len
