Subject: Diesel Oil filter blow up?
Content-Type: text/plain

Hello,

My 82 diesel westy is on its fourth oil filter in three months. I do not understand why they keep blowing up...I blew two seals and on this last one it blew apart where the metal meets up at the base of the filter. First time I thought maybe I put too much oil in so I monitored that more frequently. Now I dont understand what is wrong because I had the van checked and I know the engine is pushing oil past the seals and is going to die at some point; I also know that the oil pressure is at a minimum level.

So if the oil pressure is at minimum then what is building up the pressure to blow apart my oil filters. Could it be a pressure release? Is my oil not flowing correctly? I realize my engine will die at some point anyways but I would like to drive it until then witout another filter blowing up.

Thank you
