Automotive News estimates that Ford will spend over $200 million to
placate owners of hundreds of thousands of vehicles with defective head
gaskets.  There must be a serious design or manufacturing defect,
because they aren't even attempting to fix the problem in many cases,
they are instead offering owners up to $8000 towards the purchase of
another Ford product.


How many of you out there would take $8000 for your Westy on the
purchase of a $40,000 Eurobago? That is $664/mo payment on the $32,000
balance for five years.  That will buy a lot of new engines, tires,
transmissions, toys, etc.
