Hi Larry,

You ask: Q. "How did you avoid frying the plastic timing belt cover and alternator pulley belt?" -------- A. I bought the complete conversion kit from Kennedy. One of the items included in the kit is a sheet of galvanized tin that is installed vertically between the "cat/muffler" and the plastic timing belt cover by attaching it to the existing heat shield. Any piece of tin would do but Kennedy's was cut to shape and had instructions on how to install it.

And you ask: Q. "How did you fasten the Cat and Muffler to the engine? ... what are your thoughts on hanging the Cat and Muffler from the body and using a flexible exhaust pipe section between the Cat and Header?" ------------ A. I just welded up some angle iron; made a bracket that picked up an available bolt on top of the engine head and also an exhaust stud under the engine and then just triangulated these angle irons over over to the exhaust pipe where it comes out of the muffler. There I use a muffler clamp attached to my angle iron to hold the exhaust pipe. This way the muffler and cat assembly moves with the engine. Seems to work fine. Attaching to the body with a flex pipe might transmit engine and exhaust noise to the body.

Hope this helps, Ron Bloomquist ROADCOW VANARU
