You would have to replace the entire top cabinet as they are different and possibly the side cabinet. (that is where the hoses run). My 86 non air westie was not too unbearable without a/c on the road and traveling. They do have great ventilation systems. A/c would only be useful if you use your van for traveling to work etc. Suits /excess clothing would be nasty hot in a parked van. Be patient and wait for an a/c westie to come along then sell yours to someone on the list. My 2 cents Mark ------------------ I'll post this to the list, as it's not me looking for AC here. Not only did my Westy come with AC, but it also has an AC unit mounted under the rear seat, runs off 110 AC. I was going to take it out, but I think now I'll leave it in, as the PO did a first rate job on the installation, and I have no compelling reason to remove it. And since we plan to use our van as an extra bedroom in the driveway here in the South, it really might come in handy in the summer. I agree with your notion though, wait to find one with working AC installed at the factory. Otherwise it did indeed look to be an expensive PIA, and caused me to pass on 4 vans for this reason alone.
