From my 87 owners manual:

Front track, 2wd: 1583 mm Rear track, 2wd: 1570 mm

Front track, Syncro: 1568 mm Rear track, Syncro: 1560 mm

AFAIK, a wider track up front makes the vehicle more stable at speed, and every car has a wider track up front.
