I use a metal Surco rack on my bus. I have the largest size, 50 by 84 inches. It'll hold a fullsize mattress in it. It is similar to the one on Steve

Schwenk's Synchro Westy page. I'm at work, so the url isn't handy right now.

Hopefully you know the page. Surco's are available from many sources. including direct from the company (they're in California) and from JC Whitney. About $150-250 as I recall. Use the style that bolts to the drip rails or you can attach it to your Yakima or Thule.

If your talking about the old style seen on vintage busses, aluminum tubes with wood slats. I don't know of a source for a full length rack for a vanagon.

FWIW I have one 1/4 length vintage style (aluminum and wood slats) that came with my vanagon available if anyone is looking for one.
