Here's a tip for those listees who have dry chemical fire extinguishers in your
vehicles:  You should periodically tap your extinguisher gently with a rubber
mallet or something similar to loosen up the dry chemicals which may have
settled over time in your extinguisher. If the chemicals become "caked" inside
the extinguisher, this will impede the release of those fire retardants. If also
goes without saying that rechargeable extinguishers should be checked and
recharged regularly.

I picked up this tip from a local fire protection company while buying a second
extinguisher for my Westfalia. I intend to mount this three pound extinguisher
to the cabinet behind the driver's seat. Unfortunately the extinguisher appears
to be somewhat of an odd size because none of the available marine/auto mounting
brackets fit the extinguisher. Does anyone have any alternative ideas for
mounting this extinguisher (3 1/4 in. dia.)?
