Subject: Zip Ties Everywhere
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

After dropping my gas tank on Friday, I noticed something that I think is strange. The whole mess of coolant hoses from the engine compartment to the radiator is held on by zip-ties. Is this a factory thing? I found that my gas tank was replaced at some time in the last 10 years, and was wondering if maybe the dealership put the ties in when they did that. Every single one cracked and fell off while I was under there. It seems like a design that is not intended to last the life of the vehicle. Then when I got in to change the spark plugs, I noticed the same phenomenon in the engine compartment. Virtually every cable & hose is held in place by an old brittle zip-tie. I never paid it any attention until I had 10 of them fall off on my head while changing gas tank gaskets.

Just pondering on a Sunday when there is nothing to do at work....
