Kapitän, anything that you stick in there will cause undue forces on the exhaust manifold and could lead to something breaking. Besides wood burns.

Best to examine your engine mounts and see why the exhaust comes so close to the support bracket. If the engine mounts aren't to blame, then maybe you should have the offending exhaust piece removed by a professional and have them make a small adjustment using an exhaust pipe bender tool. If that is in fact what you have to do then you might also check with the folks who sold the pipes to you and see what they have to say.
