Subject: Mudflaps
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Can't find a source for front mudflaps for an 84 Westy. Dealer can get them for way more money than I want to pay.

Does anyone know of alternative? If worse comes to worse (I'm going to drive about 1000 miles of gravel roads this summer) I'll screw in regular flat flexible mudflaps into the back of the wheelwell so it sticks out from the body. But does anyone else have any nifty things they've done, or know of an aftermarket flap that would fit in the correct place?

Finally, does anyone know why my van has one original mudflap (must have been there since new) on the left side only? It screws to the cross member, and attaches at the top through a hole in the side of the van. But there is no corresponding hole (or flap) on the right side of the van, nor any evidence there ever was. Is this normal? Did the R side flap only mount on the bottom (not according to the parts diagram)?

TIA,

Steve
