Me too!

(I've always wanted to reply to a list email that way...) ;-)

Seriously, Steve describes exactly my bus's mud flap situation as well. Added data from my end:

1982 diesel westy, originally sold in California. DPO-original dirt remaining on driver's side: marks where mudflap used to be. Hole in side of body on left side, no hole on right. When I bought it bus had no mud flaps at all remaining.

We used to do a *lot* of driving on unpaved roads in our old air-cooled buses, and I'd like to find reasonably priced mudflaps for our vanagon. Front and rear, if possible.

Steve (and other flap-less listees), if you want protection from gravel and assorted rock-chip bits, I'd suggest using some adhesive clear mylar sheeting along the painted areas likely to be bead-blasted by off-pavement driving. It'll take the brunt of the abuse, and can be easily removed at the end of the summer, or whenever it gets toasted. Cheap, too. Should be available at just about any good hobby-type or modelling shop.

Happy camping!

T.
