Subject: Fuse Size for Headlights
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

While installing H4 headlights on my 84 Westy I plan to update the wiring harness I fashioned while installing the auxiliary driving lights and fog lights last year. I would like to install a fuse at the battery that would protect the 8 gauge wire that will connect the battery to a bank of four relays that will trigger the low beams, high beams, auxiliary driving lights, and fog lights.

Each individual light circuit will also be protected by a separate 15 amp fuse. Bulb wattage at present are 60 watts, although I may run some 55/100's in the headlights and some higher ones in the driving lights at some point in the future.

What would be an appropriate size fuse to use at the battery?

Thanks,

Tony
