I only know about the weekender seat, 'cause that's what I have, but I just tipped the seat up as if to get stuff stored under there, removed the kick panel, unscrewed the plastic cover hold-down screws and then jiggled it past the metal bar that runs across. I had to flex the bar out a bit, but I got it past without breaking anything. Seat belt mounts didn't seem to affect things.

Some people have told me they never bothered to put that plastic box back after doing work on the heater core because it's such a PITA.
