Tape is as good as anything, you can replace the wire and cover it with
heat shrink tubing the next time you take the sheet metal off down
there.  This happened to me on my '84, it sure does get you off the
freeway in a hurry when it comes on at 70 mph!  Since it didn't start to
overheat I figured it was a short and kept going after a brief stop to
check the oil.
