Subject: Clutch dripped away???
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I had one of the '82 Westys inoperative for most of the winter, because it needs cold start valve and maybe sensor and it was just too damned cold to work outside on metal objects.

Well, the weather warmed up, and it suddenly started pretty easily...sure, at least one lifter was noisy, but that cleared up pretty easily, and...

I was just going to take it over to my local air-cooled loving mechanic, when I found I had a clutch that offered NO resistance (except return spring resistance), so I took off the dash cover and saw that the brake fluid level was low, but above the minimum line.

Brakes feel fine...I added fluid, and operated the clutch many times.

I then went to the Bentley for a while, came back and found some fluid had dripped onto the line leading out of the cylinder.

The questions, which may be obvious: Is it possible or likely I had a small leak in the master cylinder, and the fluid leaked out over the winter?

And, is this a usually rebuildable part?

Thanks

Byard
