Scott, you should not be experiencing all the head gasket leaking that
your having ! If the repair is done properly it should not leak again. I
did my heads on my '87 Westy back on 06 June 1996 at 203700 km and now have
278500 km and no more leaking to date. I filled the corrosion pits on my
original heads with JB Weld and resurfaced them. Also removed the cylinders
and replaced the O-ring at the base. This is important as once you release
the pressure on the head bolts these O-ring may not reseal. I made sure all
mating surfaces were clean and true and used Permatex Ultra Gold high
temperature silicone gasket maker as the joint compound. Find a good
mechanic near you who understand the problem or bring it to me. The ones I
do not leak again.
Cheers
