Steve, It's not just the money or savings on having the hose made locally... If you have a hose made you can decide what length and that means you have more choice about where to locate the sender. I am certainly partial, but I like my placement just in from of the oil filter, above the skid plate bar, and away from the heat of the exhaust pipes.... couldn't have done this with the stock $27 hose... too long.
