Ah, Bill -- in the fog we just put our heads down in the radar and never look out the window. Kayaks don't show up on radar unless they're carrying a reflector (which I've never seen) so it doesn't matter what color they are. <g>

Well actually I don't do it that way, but a lot of folks do. I almost lost Scamp in collision with a 40-ft express cruiser in a full quarter-mile visibility -- we were circling a buoy while we got our act together for the next leg into the cotton, and he was doing buoy-to-buoy by radar at 25 knots. Moral, be darn careful hanging around buoys in the fog.
