No, it's not that difficult, I replaced all of my hardware when I converted to H4's, see <http://www.251.org/h4.html >. I removed the old hardware with a large pair of pliars, you have to destroy the plastic to remove them, the plastic is just too brittle, you're replacing them anyway, so it does not matter. That was the hard part, snapping the new ones in is just a matter of getting them it, so of them need a little force to pop in, but it's nothing tricky.

I don't know how to aim 9004's, but this will need to be done after they're reinstalled.

I only replaced the hardware on the outer lenses, you will need the following parts for these: QTY VW P/N DESC. 2 191 941 297 Headlight mounting hardware 2 255 941 141 C Headlight mounting hardware 2 255 941 133 Headlight mounting hardware

Not sure about the p/n's for the inner. When I purchased the hardware it was about $50 for the six adjusters.
