Subject: 91 Vanagon MV, good deal???
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I'm a VW Westy wannabe, and I recently found a van that I'm interested in buying. I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out a decent price for this vehicle. It's a 1991 Vanagon MV with Automatic and Premium Sound. The van has 71,000 miles and has spent it's life in the Northeast, but it shows no body rust. The dealer has no service records available and I'm not very experienced in what signs of mechanical problems to look for. The exhaust system was intact but looked rather rusty, tire were rather worn, but the van ran ok and got up to 65mph fairly quickly. The interior was in good shape with only one major stain on the rear facing driver-side seat. The pop-top and screens looked very good with no noticable problems. The van has had only one previous owner.

I've checked Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds but I was hoping for some "inside" owner advice. The dealer is asking 13,995. I was thinking this is a bit high, any suggestions or comments welcome.

Thanks~JoN Who's hoping for a Westy real soon :)
